Why should your school participate?
Our program provides the opportunity for students to travel to the mountains on a fun and educational trip just for the day. Most trips depart from the school parking lot, a great convenience for parents. Click

For elementary students, our program provides a supervised environment where students will improve their ski or snowboard skills by spending their day with a resort instructor. Students are grouped by age and ability level, from beginner to advanced. Our discounted rates, including transportation, make it more economical for parents to send their children with us than to drive them up and enroll them on their own. Click here for a printable brochure.

For middle and high school students, in addition to the lesson packages, we offer a very economical transportation and lift ticket (no lessons) package. We also offer a variety of packages for adults who wish to go along.  Click here for a printable brochure.

What ages may participate?
Any student ages 7 and above may participate in the ski or snowboard program. Our student rates apply to ages 7-18 at Eldora or Winter Park and ages 7-15 at Breckenridge and Keystone. View
Rates.

What about transportation?
Colorado Ski Academy contracts with Ramblin Express for transportation. Ramblin Express's fleet consists of modern, deluxe motorcoaches that are restroom and video equipped. Ramblin Express has an excellent safety record as well as experienced mountain drivers. Transportation is provided from the group's departure point (usually the school).

Where do the trips go?
We currently have agreements with 4 spectacular resorts - Breckenridge Resort, Winter Park Resort, Keystone Resort and Eldora Mountain Resorts. Special arrangements may be made for groups who want to visit other ski areas.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of students that can participate?
We need a minimum of 30 paid participants (at the school deadline date) to operate a trip. Because of the excellent value this program offers, very few schools will have less than 30 participants. Even if  your school should have less than 30 participants, we can often combine schools together to successfully run the trip.

There is no maximum number of participants. Colorado Ski Academy guarantees to take all of the students that have registered by the deadline date, so long as the 30 group minimum is met. After the registration deadline, we will accept late registrations on a space available basis. Late registrations must be arranged between the parents and our office directly, and are not collected by the school office.

What is the school responsible for?
Colorado Ski Academy makes it very simple for schools to participate, as we handle all of the money and do the paperwork! We establish a
coordinator, or contact person, to work with us at each school. This contact person can be either a staff person, or a parent. Once we have set dates for your trips, we produce and print registration forms for each school to distribute to the students, and provide a large envelope for the office to collect the forms. Our office phone number is printed on the forms for parents or students with questions. After the registration deadline, we pick up the envelope from the office and process the forms. We handle all the details including coordinating the rental equipment and making sure each ski resort is ready for the students. Each school or group is responsible to provide the designated number of chaperones needed for the trip.  We will provide a special registration form for chaperones to complete approximately 7 days before the trip.

What about insurance and liability?
All passengers are covered with full accident medical insurance while traveling on the motorcoach to and from the ski areas. Ramblin Express  carries $5 million per vehicle liability. Many metro-Denver school districts are already named as additional insured on Ramblin Express's policy. Optional accident/medical protection, covering the students while they are off the coach skiing or snowboarding, is available at the nominal cost of $4.00 per student. This is a secondary coverage  which will reimburse for out-of-pocket deductibles or expenses not covered by other insurance for a maximum of $500.00 per person.

As part of the registration form, all parents must sign a two-part liability release, holding any sponsoring organizations, Colorado Ski Academy, and the individual resort harmless. Parents also sign a medical release allowing Colorado Ski Academy to authorize emergency medical treatment in the event that parents can't be reached.

How are students chaperoned?
We work with the designated coordinator for your school to obtain two chaperones per bus. In the case where a bus is shared with two schools, then each school will provide one chaperone. These chaperones are responsible for the students only while they are on the coach. Chaperones can be parents or school staff, depending on what your school prefers. Chaperones receive their entire trip free, including transportation, full day lift ticket, and a half day lesson if they desire it.  Chaperones also receive FREE ski or snowboard rental at Eldora or a  discount on rental equipment at Winter Park, Breckenridge and Keystone. The chaperone package is non-transferable and must be used on the day of the trip.

For an elementary school, resort instructors meet the buses upon arrival and escort the students to the ski or snowboard school, where their rental equipment is pre-set and waiting for them. The instructors remain with the students the entire day, including lunch time, and return the students to the appropriate bus at the end of the day, where chaperones will check them back on.

For middle and high school students, those taking a lesson will also be met by the instructors upon arrival. Those not in a lesson program are given both written and verbal instruction on where and when to be back at the end of the day, as well as how to contact our on-site Colorado Ski Academy staff if needed. As part of the registration form, parents sign an agreement that they will come and get their child if they are NOT in a lesson program and they miss the bus at the end of the day.
